hi, how can I make the door knobs stay fixed on the door as unable to tighten it.
Cheers sheila
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @sheila. Many thanks for your question, I'd be happy to assist.
The doorknob fixes to the door by turning the golden coloured collar flange clockwise. The thread on it matches up with the thread on the door fixing and tightens it onto the door. If it does not tighten, then there is a chance the thread is damaged and it will need to be replaced. Unless we can decipher which thread is damaged then you might need to replace the whole handle set.
Please let me know if you need further advice or had questions.

Shelia do you mean you cant get it tight or it wont stay tight ie it comes lose as you use the handle? If it is the second nail polish on the thread before you put it back may help.

It worked like a charm, thank you!

My door knob seems to have come off the spindle and tightening the golden coloured collar flange doesn’t work. How would I go about fixing this?
Hello @handybloke
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your door knob.
I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I'm afraid the entire door knob assembly will need to be replaced. The handle that is currently in your hand is fixed in place with a special flat slot pin that keeps it attached to the gold flange of the door. If the pin breaks, it's extremely hard to repair and there are no spare parts for it. I propose looking at the Ikonic White Heritage Door Knob With Brass Rosette as a possible replacement.
Here is a handy step-by-step guide: How to change a door knob.
