I have a everdure gas heater with a bayonet fitting.
I am having alot of trouble connecting it to the outlet in the wall.
I thought they where all standard size. Is it possible that they are different sizes & that's why it won't go.
Hello @missbymuch
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your gas fitting.
I recommend stopping and not forcing the gas fittings together. I suggest engaging the services of a gas fitter/specialist as they will be able to determine if your gas heater's fitting is compatible with your gas bayonet. It is difficult to tell why it's not working together, but if the fittings need to be changed the gas fitter will be able to do it for you.
If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Evening @missbymuch
As far as i know they are standard sizes, I have the same model and brand by the look of it and "hang a tic will go havce a squiz"
Ok had a squiz, my socket has 4 holes and a center pin. At this point id follow @EricL's suggestion and take it a a gas service person (plumber service) as I have a sneaking suspicion that it may be a fitting for bottled gas. It can be converted if thats the case by the plumber (I had mine converted years ago) and it runs nicely. I also suggest to get the heater service once evry two years or three. It does help with it running smoothly.
The only other thing is what the other socket in the floor looks like and with mine you have to push and twist like an old school lightbulb (bayonette)

Hey there @missbymuch
Hard to tell from your photo.
"Is it possible that they are different sizes & that's why it won't go"
But is it also possible you're not applying enough inward pressure on the bayonet for the pins to connect and then lock with a small clockwise rotation?
Yes indeed, a bit of grunt is needed to overcome the spring-loaded valve.
