Hello!
Sorry to be annoying but I was wondering if it were possible at all to build something like this? I had contemplated using wooden dining chairs and replacing the seats with planks but thought I might as well ask on here
Thank you in advance
Afternoon @ut
"I had contemplated using wooden dining chairs and replacing the seats with planks"
I think your illustration above brought to fruition - would look better.
Certainly doable. The connections to the back rest railing - large steel brackets maybe?
What planks are you thinking of?
Keep us informed!
Cheers.
Thanks for the reply!
I haven't decided on any planks if you have a suggestion? It seems like it's hard to find steel brackets that are used for benches, have been googling backrest brackets
I made a bench seat outta treated pine planks from Bunnings. I think they were 200 X 45?
Beautifully straight dressed timber. I think they were 5.4 metre lengths.
Took to paint well.
I'm sure @JacobZ would know the code.
Hello @ut
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about building a timber long chair.
Will you be using this outside or inside? If it is for inside, you could pretty much use all the non-treated internal timber pine that is available inside the store. Plus, all the work panels that are on the display can used as well. But if you are using this outside, I suggest using Merbau timber along with treated pine H3. The merbau is resilient out in the open and H3 is treated for outdoor use. I propose re-drawing your plans with more details that include the timber joins and any support framing that might be involved. With enough planning you should be able to assemble this long chair.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

"I think they were 200 X 45?"
Yet again, I'm wrong. 190 X 45 - I got the 6m lengths.
These were the ones.
Worked well for the buttocks and back...
oh amazing! Thank you! Do you have a link for the brackets you used?
