How do I repair scratched timber floor?

Our timber floor got dented/scratched by a fridge. How is best to fix it (mostly a superficial fix to get our bond back!). I’ve tried steam and the walnut method, but it has discoloured some of the scratches. Do we need to get a professional in or can it easily be fixed? Any advice/help would be appreciated!

Re: How do I repair scratched timber floor?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @md1. It's brilliant to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about repairing timber floors.

For superficial scratches and dents, Waxstix, which are coloured timber crayons, can be a great option to help mimic the colour of your timber floor. These crayons are designed to fill in smaller scratches and imperfections, blending them with the surrounding wood. While this won't address deeper gouges or significant damage, it can provide a good temporary fix to help restore the appearance of the floor.

If the damage is more significant, or if the floor has deeper gouges, you may need to consider contacting a professional to ensure seamless repair. For now, Waxstix can be a quick and effective solution to touch up the surface and improve the appearance.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
