In the beginning: had a dodgy old chain bar I was happy to experiment with, so whipped up a milling jag from some salvaged (of course) square stock. No welds for speed.
It planes up OK, although I obviously need to learn more about grain direction. And sealing the ends to prevent checking.
Add some letters jigsawed and chiseled out of scrap, coat with poly and voila, people can find our house.
Then got carried away below, with a Christmas present for my sister done with an old school 1/4” mortising chisel, and some test pieces from firewood (yellow box, I think). Experimented a bit with finishes; just stain for the small one, stain and varnish for the big one.

Awsome stuff. Love the upcycle of old tools into new technology and the recycle of left over materials to make some great looking products, each one one will be unique.
