Bunnings Workshop community members shared hundreds of inspiring projects this year showing how you can make an impact on your home without requiring a big budget.

 

Our most popular projects of the year were clever, creative and diverse, and include new outdoor entertaining areas, decking, a firepit, screening, a raised garden bed, laundry and front entry renovation projects, and even a dog ramp.  

 

Many thanks to all community members who shared projects this year, and a big congratulations to the following members in our Top 10. We love your work. 

 

1. Outdoor seating with planter and storage by @AriG 

 

An outdoor entertainment area with seating, planter boxes and storage built using Pine sleepers, fibre sheet cladding, acrylic render and solar strip lighting.

 

2. Low-level composite deck over concrete by @diy_hausdesigns 

 

Ekodeck boards assembled over old concrete to create a new outdoor entertaining area. The deck was part of a larger backyard renovation project, including a timber pergola over the courtyard.

 

3. Paved firepit area with built-in seating by @Codey 

 

A unique paved fire pit area with built-in bench seating for a sloping block created with materials including rendered concrete, cobblestones and Pine sleepers.

 

4. Star Jasmine fence screening using wire by @Gwandalan_Tales 

 

Star Jasmine plants trained along wire to cover a backyard fence.

 

5. Raised garden bed retaining wall for slope by @asharkey 

 

A raised garden bed built with treated hardwood and Retain It posts, and coated with decking oil, with drainage installed.

 

6. Hamptons-inspired dog ramp by @Alicia_Woodwork 

 

A dog ramp made of Pine and covered in foam wall panel sheets for a pet suffering from hip dysplasia.

 

7. Formal entrance created using single car garage by @Nailbag 

 

A single garage was sacrificed to create a formal front entrance and significantly enhance the street appeal of this home. 

 

8. Pool blanket box bench seat by @ourcountrycoast 

 

A pool blanket storage solution that doubles as a bench seat.

 

9. Laundry and powder room renovation by @diy_hausdesigns 

 

A laundry and powder room makeover designed to maximise wall storage and add warmth using timber and statement tiles.

 

10. Front yard landscaping with letterbox by @lhlifestyle 

 

A front yard transformation using charcoal pavers, artificial turf, planting, new irrigation system and bespoke timber letterbox.

 

 

Australia and New Zealand’s best D.I.Y. projects of 2024

 

Bunnings Workshop community members impressed the judges of this year’s search for Australia’s best D.I.Y. projects.

 

Inspiring kitchen, bathroom, laundry and outdoor makeovers were among the many wonderful entries received, which you can browse on our project search gallery.

:smile: I cant get over the projects in the top ten, there are definently some high level skillsets out ther in the community!

 

Thank you for the acknowledgement :smile: I figure if there is something I know and it can help someone then why not say it, if they use it bonus if not then still bonus as we all make decisions on available information. :smile: Im looking forward to next years projects (have a few in mind) and seriously need to lift my game to set the same standards as the top ten! :smile:
