Wardrobes help keep your bedroom organised and clutter-free. They can be easily customised to suit your storage needs, helping you to always find what you need.
As our clever Bunnings Workshop members have shown, there are many quick and inexpensive ways to add more storage space to your wardrobe.
1. Use shelving towers
Consider removing some hanging rails and adding shelving towers that can be customised to your needs. In her walk-in wardrobe makeover, experienced Bunnings Workshop member @Alyce_Pham transformed the space using Flexi Storage units.

2. Add storage baskets
While upgrading her daughter’s wardrobe, Alyce created a more organised space by installing more hanging rails and shelves, and utilised storage baskets to keep everything neat and tidy. She also opted for sliding mirror doors to maximise space in the room.
3. Use the walls
From installing timber dowels to hang clothes on the side wall to adding a D.I.Y. shoe rack, Workshop member @Nicolarose used several clever methods to make their walk-in wardrobe more functional and stylish. Fellow member @TREVELYAN took hooks from an Adoored 60cm Black 4 Hook Rustic Hat And Coat Rack in their bedroom renovation project.
4. Add shoe storage
Resourceful Workshop member @prettyliving built a quick and simple shoe storage solution for her daughter's wardrobe using timber offcuts and shelves. A great way to keep shoes tidy and out of sight.
5. Double up on hanging rails
Maximise space by having two hanging rails above each other. Community member @raniia had a wardrobe with high hanging rails, with all the space underneath wasted. Their wardrobe makeover made fantastic use of the space with multiple rails as well as shelving and drawers. Fellow member @jacquif also used multiple rails in her walk-in wardrobe makeover.
6. Insert drawers
Drawers can make much better use of space than open shelving. Community member @Upcycler01 stacked drawer units on top of each other as part of their walk-in wardrobe transformation. During their wardrobe makeover, Workshop member @Tannie inserted two second-hand wooden drawer units, while @ksd050 built bespoke D.I.Y. wardrobe drawers units.
