We have a section of our house the has Morocco paint finish. But it’s starting to peel off. We know we have to do the prep work to get the peeling paint off, but what’s the best paint to use once we are ready to re-paint?
Hi @staceycovo
Many modern paints are very sun resistant these days some paints offer anti peel guarantees for longer paint life, 4 seasons.
Weathershield , Solar Guard In different gloss stain or low sheens
In every colour of the rainbow. and they dont require under coats(Some surfaces would benifit from under coat) saving money .
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @staceycovo. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about peeling paint.
Given the extent of the peeling, it's likely that the entire paint coating has not adhered well to the bricks, which is probably due to the lack of primer. As a result, it’s best to remove all the paint rather than just patch the affected areas.
The paint will be difficult to remove, so employing the services of someone that can blast it off with a high-pressure water blaster may be required to strip it off. After the surface is cleaned and prepared, applying a primer designed for masonry is important to ensure proper adhesion of the new paint.
Once the primer is dry, you can apply a suitable masonry paint or acrylic paint for better adhesion and durability. If you want to replicate the textured Morocco paint finish, you could opt for a textured paint that mimics the existing appearance.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
