I'm looking for advice on sealing up cracks like these that have come about in my timber handrail before re staining. I am trying to avoid having water sit in and rot the wood internally. There are cracks in multiple areas.
Hello @diymatt87
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about sealing the cracks in your timber handrail.
I propose looking at the Polyfilla 450g Exterior Timber Filler. It is a ready to use, acrylic based flexible filler for filling cracks, holes, dents and splits in weatherboards and other exterior woodwork such as decking and fencing. It also offers excellent adhesion to both painted and unpainted timber, it can be sanded, stained, screwed or planed. My best advice is to give the filler enough time to cure properly before you stain or paint over it.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Thanks @EricL, I'll give that a shot and provide feedback and any tips I pick up along the way.
