Which decking screws to use?
Hi Community,
My deck is coming along nicely, a bit slow due to work, rain and other commitments, but I'm now ready to put the boards on.
Can anyone suggest the best screws for 140mm merbau to aluminium joists?
I am after the self drilling type (but will predrill the boards).
Thanks in advance ☺️

Re: Needing advice on decking screws
Hi Marie (@Mizzms),
I'd recommend you take a look at the Simpson Strong-Tie 4.8 x 50mm 10G 316 Stainless Steel BFHS Bi-Metal Hardwood Timber To Steel Decking.... They are designed to self-drill through up to 2.4mm thick steel joists. These are also self-drilling screws for the timber, so there is no need to pre-drill the timber separately.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Needing advice on decking screws
Many thanks @MitchellMc!
My local Bunnings seems to be rather short on staff and I couldn't find anyone there to ask. But I knew someone here would have answer 😊
Regards
Marie
