What screws for Treated Pine decking frame?

Hi, If I was using 90x45 Treated Pine to build a decking frame (no decking as using WPC decking), what size type screws would I use?  I also need to use 70 x 45 Treated Pine in another section, so what type/size would I use for this?

Thanks

Re: What screws for Treated Pine decking frame?

Hi @scenario123,

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. We're looking forward to seeing your decking project come to life and are confident you'll get plenty of help and inspiration from our members along the way.

Please note that a couple of our resident Bunnings D.I.Y. experts are taking a well-earned break at the moment, so apologies that there might be a bit of a delay before one can get back to you.

In the meantime, let me tag some other experienced community members to see if they can share their thoughts with you about what they would use: @Nailbag@JDE@Tara86.

My recommendation would always be to consult the comprehensive Bunnings step-by-step series How to build a deck. It should assist with your planning and answering all your questions along the way.

Thanks,

Jason

Hi @scenario123

I would used galvanised 75mm batten screws through pilot holes in the top timbers so the screws grab and hold in to the timber beneath.

Hi @scenario123

That's a spot on recommendation by @Nailbag. I also agree with the suggestion of drilling pilot holes in the timber to prevent timber splitting and prevents the screws from snapping their heads off.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.
