Can I please get the layout and all the materials used in this video. I am thinking to DIY exactly same as this video. Also, if you give me all the costing, that will be great.

Re: What is the layout and materials used in the Bunnings How to build a deck guide?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @DIYdeck. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about building a deck.

The instructional series on how to build a deck is designed to provide you with a comprehensive guide to follow when designing and constructing your own deck. However, an exact layout for this design is not something we could provide, as each project can vary greatly depending on your specific needs, the space you are working with and elevation changes.

The guide is meant to cover the multi-faceted nature of creating your own deck, and we understand that some people may want to replicate the deck shown in the video exactly. While we can't provide a detailed layout for this specific design, we can offer guidance on the process and necessary steps.

We'd be more than happy to help you with your design and build if you'd like to supply details about your project, such as the dimensions, the type of wood or materials you prefer, and any specific features you want to include. This way, we can tailor our advice to suit your particular requirements.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Great, Planning to build my own deck. First time. Back of my house, outdoor. Dimension(length, width, width)  4*7* 5.5, L shape. On Soil, clearannce 250mm, but on far end roughly around 600mm. I am leaning more to Marau decking. Thank you.

Could you draw a quick sketch on the deck's footprint showing the L-shape and dimensions, @DIYdeck? Let me know if you need help uploading images. Also, please illustrate on there which end has the 250mm clearance and which the 600mm.

Re: What is the layout and materials used in the Bunnings How to build a deck guide?

Hi @DIYdeck,

I've created the below rendering to get you started. Due to the size of the deck and elevation, you'll need to check with your local council to determine whether planning permission is required. If it is you'll need an engineer to construct plans for you for submission. As it's an elevated deck, I am unable to provide the exact dimensions of the required timber as load calculations must be done by an engineer or professional. This all starts with your soil being tested for stability and adequate footers for your soil type determined. However, using 140 x 45mm timbers for your joists supported every 1000mm by posts should be in the right ballpark. Due to the significant number of supports required for a single-level design, your engineer might suggest a joist over bearer system, especially over the higher elevation section. Having larger calibre bearers supporting the weight of the smaller joists can help eliminate the need for so many footers.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
