Hey!
Newbie here!
We just purchased a cubby house for our daughter for Christmas and I didn’t think of what to do for the floor!
I have attached the cubby house we purchased.
what would you suggest for floor ideas?
My daughter is 2.5 years old.
we also bought Taubens exterior paint to paint it. Does this have a primer in it already or do I need to purchase that too?
Hi @kalaleex,
Thank you for your question and welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
Have you prepared an area for the cubby house? If so, what is the surface? Is it concrete, grass, a timber deck or sand?
If you are on a hard surface like concrete or a timber deck, you could use gym mats or these interlock foam thick mats to give a soft surface to play on.
If you are on grass or sand, the ground might be soft enough for your little one that you are happy to leave it without a floor.
Alternatively, you could create a base from pavers that the cubby house can sit on. You can then use the same gym mats to soften the surface.
Allow me to tag @Dave-1, @Jewelleryrescue and @Noyade to see if they have any other ideas.
Generally, exterior paints are self-priming and do not require any additional application of primer. If you could advise the specific paint product I'd be happy to confirm this for you.
Let me know what you think.
Jacob
Good Evening @kalaleex
Depending on where you are placeing the cubby house you could go with something as easy as a recyled rubber mat @JacobZ has mentioned, It will kill the grass if you place it on it but would be the easiest to move about if needed, I also like @JacobZ's suggestion with the pavers, even pavers plus the rubber mat would be solid and protective.
I am not sure of the paint question. What brand and type did you buy? The Bunnings team will know for sure tho
Dave
Hi @kalaleex,
Both the Taubsmans All Weather and the Taubsmans Sunproof are self-priming and can be painted directly onto new timber and your cubbyhouse. The primer is included in them, so there is no need to prime them separately.
