Hello Experts,
I am looking to cur the conrete slab highlighted in yellow dotted lines, so that it will match to the newly layed concrete pathway.
Are there any suggestions ?
I thinking use Demolition Saw to create a seperation and then get rid of remaining using sledge hammer or jack hammer.
Does it work ?
Hi @nvelaga
You are on the right line of thinking.
But your slab is only 75mm thick so if you use and angle grinder either even a 100mm disk will work with a diamond or masionary abrasive or multipurpose disk. Use a circular saw too but the diamond blade is bigger and more expensive for a one off cut.
The purpose of the cut line is to proved a neat controlled fracture line so when you use a jack hammer closer to the cut line it will break along the line only.
Use the sledge or jack hammer to break up larger lump so they are easier to handle Smashing em too small is creating more work so stop at largest managable size/
The last 20mm of the uncut path will be raggedly as it wont be cut all the way though so just use your angle grinder and blade to tidy it up flat.
Thanks @Jewelleryrescue.
I wasn't aware circular saws are handy for concrete as well. I have Ozito circular saw , if i purchase a diamond blade ( diablo )
Does the saw sufficient for the job ?
Hi @nvelaga
The trick with ozito power tools is to let the tool do the work as they are no where as powerful or robust as their heavy duty cousins. Or full on concrete specailist tools.
I would set the ozito depth guage for 10mm and score a nice neat saw blade cut down the line this will also not over tax the saw.
Just slow and steady and apply light to medium forward pressure to the saw. Lower depth 20mm and go again the first cut will guide the blade so feel for that with the blade working less hard
-Cutting notes You must wear good dust mask, goggles and hearing plugs.
-When your cutting there will be massive amount of dust be considerate of your neighbours cars and washing on the line etc.
-When your cutting your marker line may be covered in dust so be prepared to stop. Some times an air blower held be an observer can clean the way/line ahead. They must be protected to.
- Attach an old vacuum cleaner to your ozito dust exhast port it will help some cement dust is very fine and start to trash a good vacuum.
-You will have to move your position several time to traverse the cut line make sure you power the saw off and it stops spinning before you try to move to relocate as a saw can give a very nasty and dangerous kick if the blade is turned /Twisted deep and jambs while spinning deep into the cut.
- Position your self to the side of the saw not behind it in case of kick back
Kneel at ground level to cut dont try to stand and cut bending over as your level of control will be mininal Always have a clear work zone and good cutting posture and you are proprtly balanced and Dont over extend your reach as your control will weaken.
Sorry to bomb you with this stuff but saftey is very import and around power tools you wont get too many second chances just ask people at the emergency dept.
Thanks @Jewelleryrescue. Appreciate your inputs. Totally inline, safety is paramount.
