Hello,
After using Cabot's New Timber Prep, my new Blackbutt deck has turned out to be a disaster.
The tannins have made some deck boards look very dark and patchy.
I tried Cabot's Deck Clean, but it didn't change anything.
I've also tried a bit of sanding without any success.
What can I do now?
Thanks.
Hello @dcc82
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's a pleasure to have you join us, and thank you for sharing your question about your brand-new deck.
This particular phenomenon occurs when part of Cabot's timber prep dries out faster than the other parts of the deck. I've spoken to the technical department at Cabot's and they suggest to re-apply Cabot's timber prep on the dark areas and following the same instructions. Once you've washed off the timber prep immediately apply Cabot's deck clean while the area is damp. It is recommended that you do this very early in the morning before the morning sun starts to heat up your deck.
Please keep us updated with your progress, we look forward to seeing your deck ready for painting.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
