We have this pavement in our outdoor area which goes towards the backyard. It is pretty uneven and old. What is the best
way to improve it without having to replace it? There is weeds coming out at few places and also ant hills. 🐜
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @gsaini. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about paving.
To improve your uneven brick paver surface, you'll need to re-level the affected areas. Start by removing the bricks in the lower sections. Once removed, add bedding material such as sand or road base, ensuring it’s evenly distributed and compacted to provide a solid foundation. After levelling the base, replace the bricks, ensuring they are laid evenly with the surrounding pavers. Some of the areas look extensively sunken, so it might be worth enlisting the services of a professional for the job.
For the weeds, you can apply a path weeder, which can prevent regrowth for up to 12 months. Additionally, it's important to refill the joints between the pavers with paving sand or a product like Powerloc. Powerloc is a polymer-modified sand that locks in place, helping to prevent weed growth and improving the stability of the pavers. This approach will leave your pavement looking refreshed and well-maintained
