Transforming a large backyard can feel overwhelming, but the Make It Happen team this week show how to divide the garden into zones and tackle one achievable project at a time.
Taking a typical dated suburban backyard, the team divide it into an entertainment zone including deck and pizza oven, a "produce and play" zone for growing edibles and providing a kids play area, and a lawn area with garden beds as the third zone.
Many people are now keen to grow their own food, so the fenced-off produce garden with raised vegetable planters, shed, worm farm, fruit trees and chicken coop are a real asset to the home.
Meanwhile, the large composite deck with pergola helps to expand the floor plan of the house and provide additional room for entertaining friends and family, taking advantage of the outdoor kitchen with barbecue, fridge, sink and and pizza oven.
