Hi everyone. Do I have to buy a pump?
I’m looking at adding a water tank to our relatively new house and tapping into maybe a down pipe or maximum two of the 7 downpipes around the house. Think it’ll only be a round/square 1000L. It’s purely for supplementing watering our newly established garden.
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @VictorianLass. It's splendid to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about tanks pumps.
In most cases, a pump is essential if you want adequate pressure for watering the garden. Without a pump, the water pressure from a 1000L tank will be minimal, as gravity alone won’t provide much force. This means that if you plan to use a hose or sprinkler, a pump will make a noticeable difference in flow and coverage, ensuring you can water efficiently.
For a straightforward solution, the Ozito 800W Constant Pressure Pump is a\ great choice, delivering enough pressure for small to medium garden areas and compatible with standard hoses.
If you’re only planning to fill watering cans, you might get by without a pump, but for consistent, usable pressure, a pump would be necessary.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
