How to seal cubby floor?

Hey guys, Building a cubby house for the kids, I’ve done a steel frame with yellow tongue flooring, it’ll be enclosed but still wanting the floor to be sealed, any advice on a sealer that will hold up to foot traffic?

Re: sealing cubby floor

Hi @AidanS,

Thank you for your question about sealing your YellowTongue cubby house floor and welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

I'd suggest the simplest and best option is to paint it. This gives you a massive variety of colour options that can be as subtle or bright as you and your kids would like.

Dulux has produced this project guidance that is worth a read - STRUCTAflor - STRUCTApanel - Wall lining and flooring painting and staining recommendations.

Start by preparing the surface by sanding with 80 grit sandpaper followed by vacuuming to remove any residual dust. This will help the primer bond to the surface of the YellowTongue.

Once prepared, Dulux has advised using 1 coat of Dulux 1Step Prep Primer, Sealer & Undercoat followed by 2 coats of Dulux Wash and Wear in a low sheen finish and colour of your choice.

Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Jacob
