How to revive timber stairs?
Would be grateful if community can recommend best approach/products to bring these outdoor stairs back to life. Obviously they are in need of a good wash and scrub but afterwards Iām not sure what to do or what the best products are to use to get the same colour? Were these originally painted? Or is there some sort of timber tint that can achieve the same?
Thanks!

Re: Stair revival
Hello @BaileyJ
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your timber steps.
Your timber stairs much like a timber deck will at some point need maintenance and recoating. Generally speaking, after washing the timber steps it will need to be sanded down back to timber. Once the steps have been properly sanded you can then stain and varnish the steps to your preferred colour. If you have a belt sander or an orbital sander it should be able to handle your steps quite easily.
In regards to the colour of your steps, I suggest visiting your local store and looking at the stain sample board in the paint department. You'll be able to get a better idea of the finish of the stains when applied to timber.
Here are some handy step-by-step guides:
Some of the techniques used in these guides are applicable to your project.
