How to replace pool coping tiles?

We removed old terracotta pool coping tiles from our pool. They were falling off so basically just lifted off. We've tried to hire someone to replace them but noone shows! How can we add new pool coping tiles ourselves ?

Re: How to replace Pool coping tiles

Hello @JayAtt

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your pool coping.

Are you planning to recycle your terracotta pool coping? Because if they are still in good condition, then it might be possible to re-install them on your pool. But if you decide to use new coping tiles, you'll need to tell us what kind of coping tiles you'll be using so that we can give you a recommendation in regards to the type of adhesive you can use. To help determine the size and shape of your new coping tile, you can use one of your old terracotta tiles as a template. This will ensure the new tile matches properly and fits seamlessly into place.

If you are hoping to get a trades person to do this for you, I suggest posting the job on Airtasker or Hipages. My best advice is to give as much information as you can, including pictures of the pool so that the trades looking at it can give you a quote as soon as possible.

I also recommend having a look at these discussions - How to install coping tiles around a pool by @weesp and what adhesive for repairing pool coping? by @nerea

Let me call on our experienced members @Dave-1 and @Jewelleryrescue for their recommendations.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Re: How to replace Pool coping tiles

Good Evening @JayAtt

Nice job removing the coping. Were the old stones ok? I am a big one for reuse but also like the difference a new look would bring to a project.

I havnt had a lot of experience in attaching coping stones on a wall or around a pool  I would think that whatever you use for the paved area will match into the coping arourn the pool. Do you have any ideas of the type of stones/pavers you want?

My only suggestion is to go with something that wont be slippery when wet  Even to the point of askingto feel the pavers you want when they have been hosed. Might look odd but will be a great story when you finish the job

If you are going for a different style you could also use the old coping as templates for cutting new ones (whoops just checked and @EricL has already suggested that  )

Having that concrete slab down makes your job easier for sure, definently something you would be able to do espicially if you stick to the same size pavers
