Imagine 2 veranda's outside the front of the house, 2 levels, the top veranda floor has tiles, grouted sitting on top of villa-board. Over the years, the grout has seen some wear, and water now seeps through in some areas, pooling on the villa-board before dripping onto the lower level.
One solution we have been entertaining is painting the tiles (outside, and exposed to weather and UV) with liquid rubber paint. The questions I have are:
(a) Can you advise the best tile cleaner, primer and paint? Brand please. The area to cover is 12x3mtr.
(b) Does the paint come in a variety of colors?
Hello @Kokonut
Thanks for sharing your question about fixing your leaking veranda. Due to the tiles ceramic finish, I don't recommend painting it as it will just simply peel off.
However, in order to rejuvenate it, I suggest cleaning the surface with Long Life 1L Tile Cleaner. If the grout has started to deteriorate, I propose removing the old grout and replacing it with Dunlop 1.5kg Flexible Coloured Grout - White. Once you've replaced the grout, recommend sealing the entire surface with CPC 220ml Shower Plug Sealant. It is an invisible brush-on treatment to fix and prevent leaks in showers and balconies, without having to remove tiles.
Here are some handy step by step guides:
