What can I use to protect/maintain the door.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about protecting your door.
It appears that the original sealer of your door has started to deteriorate. I recommend sanding the surface of the door back to wood and putting on a new sealer. I suggest using a detail sander to shorten the sanding time. If you are after an ordinary clear sealer, I propose looking at Cabot's 500ml Clear Satin Exterior Timber Finish.
However, if you decide to stain and varnish the door, I suggest visiting your local store and going to the stain and varnish sample section at the paint department.
