Can i paint backyard fence giving it a timber stain finish even though it is normal pine timber fence?
Hi @pgold, you can simply prime it then paint it.
If you want to keep the natural timber look, then just go with an oil/stain but before you do it, you may be better off cleaning it with a timber cleaner first given it's been chemically treated but this may not be necessary. I'll leave that advice to @MitchellMc or another helpful, more paint-smart member 🙂

It's great to see you've already received a helpful reply from @ProjectPete.
You can certainly apply Cabot's Water Based Deck And Exterior Timber Stain to your fence to change the colouring. The colouring will be enhanced if you follow Pete's advice and clean the fence first with Intergrain 1L UltraPrep Timber Cleaner. Currently, the timber has a grey colour to it and the Intergrain UltraPrep will restore it ready for staining.
Please let me know if you need further advice or had questions.
