How to level ground for lawn?

IMG_1851.jpeg

Hi I would like to do my front yard and backyard using materials from Bunnings store. Builders have left it with rocks gravel and soil. It’s pretty messy at the moment. But I want to start levelling front n back ground and then seed it. I would appreciate any advice. I would like to know how do I start. Should I remove all the rocks n gravel or just put topsoil on it before doing anything else. Thank you!

Hello @harj

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about levelling your front yard.

Yes, you are correct the large stones and large gravel must be removed using Saxon 14T Garden Rake so that they do not interfere when the new soil is laid out on your yard. I also suggest manually removing all the weeds you can on the surface make sure that it is void of weeds and strange plants.

I then recommend getting the soil wet and using Saxon Lawn Aerator Sandals to open up the hard soil in your yard. Make sure not to miss any section so that the new soil will mix in very well with the old. Once you've prepared the surface, I suggest following the guide I've placed below before you put your lawn on top.

Here is a handy step-by-step guide: How to lay turf.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.
