how can I install the braket on this post without an extra post
Hello @maryane
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's wonderful to have you join us, and thank you for sharing your question about your balustrade.
Would it be possible for you to post another photo of the post you're trying to anchor on to. This will give our members a better idea of how thick the post is and if it is safe to drill into. We can then make recommendations on how to anchor the panel brackets into the post.
Usually, the bracket comes with a set of self-taping steel screws. Because the post is not flat you might need longer screws in order to anchor it to the post. But as I mentioned we need to know if the post is safe to drill into.
We look forward to seeing the photos of the post.
Eric
The post are 65mm are newly installed
Morning @maryane
So, it's a 65mm square column (sheet metal) with a mini-corrugated look to it?
Certainly has a beautiful finish.
What are the hole diameters?
Now it's only a quick thought - but I was thinking a 4.8mm (or larger) pop rivet with a washer, angled very slightly to capture as much of each ridge as possible. Before drilling, I'd try a light tap with a centre punch to help prevent the drill bit tip from sliding/wandering.
Hi @maryane,
Can you please let us know if this will be for balustrading to prevent falls from height? If so, these fence brackets are not rated for balustrading, nor would fixing this style bracket to a corrugated post be a suitable solution. Balustrading has certain regulations placed on it, and an approved product needs to be used and the correct mounting procedures followed.
If this were a railing that isn't preventing falls from height, then Tek Screws would likely hold the bracket in place. You'll need to mark and pre-drill the holes to ensure they are placed in the correct locations. Trying to use the Tek screws to cut into the post will likely cause them to skip around due to the corrugated surface.
Please let us know if you have any questions.

"Balustrading has certain regulations placed on it"
Good to know @MitchellMc - that 'pops' my rivet approach. 🙄
It's for railing our patio is just a bit elevated under half a meter so we don't really need a balustrade but we want the rails
Thanks for clarifying, @maryane. I just needed to check, as I'd hate to recommend the wrong product and for someone to be injured.
I'd be happy with you using Tek screws, but marking the hole location and predrilling with a 3mm drill bit will be key to getting the fixings in the right location.
