Good Afternoon,
This hot water waste pipe installed from my hot water system needs a better routing, the pvc pipe that has been attached to the downpipe is loose and I need to find a better solution to route the hot water into the downpipe. Any suggestions ?
Thank you !
Hello @2BHandyAndy
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your hot water drainpipe.
Just a friendly reminder that any plumbing work must be carried out by a licensed plumber for safety and compliance.
It appears that the handy person who did this was in a bit of a hurry. It looks like they drilled into the mortar and not the brick which explains why the pipe is loose. They then anchored it to your downpipe instead of the brick wall. The copper pipe end was just bent so that it would line up with the drain.
Generally speaking, the PVC drainpipe must be secured to the storm water pipe and not just loosely glued in. The copper pipe should be anchored properly and provided with the proper turns and not just bent to shape. In regards to position, I recommend speaking to your plumber regarding repositioning the hot water drain. They will be aware of the rules and regulations regarding moving the hot water drainpipe.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
