How to hang swing from steel frame alfresco?

We have a Steel Frame home and wish to hang a childs swing from the Afresco roof.

The house goes from a Raked Ceiling to a Gable at the back, so there is minimal internal access to the Alfresco roof.

Is there a way to hang the swing without having to enter the roof cavity?

Thanks

Re: How to hang swing from steel frame alfresco?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @chloemiller. It's brilliant to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about installing a child swing.

Without accessing the ceiling, it would be very difficult to ensure that you've adequately fixed into the steel beams. Given this is a child's swing, it must be secured correctly. You could potentially fix a timber beam across the ceiling and secured it to the steel roof beams with self-tapping screws or spring toggles. The swing could then be attached to the timber. The timber will spread the load across several beams instead of just one.

I'd encourage you to contact the manufacturer of the roof beams to verify whether this type of installation is suitable for their product. Steel roof beams are not designed to have a load hung from them, and I have concerns about their suitability for your project. You might like to post an image of the area as our helpful members might have other suggestions on how to hang the swing securely. Let me know if you need a hand uploading images.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
