I have a crack in wooden post which is supporting a small decorative pergola. What is the best way to fix this?
Hi @revird,
Provided you've had the pole assessed, and you are certain it isn't structurally compromised, then any aesthetical holes can be filled with Builder's Bog or a standard timber filler. The timber filler, being a one-part system, would be the easier of the two to apply. Once your filler has been applied and it has dried, you can sand the surface smooth, prime and then paint.
If the crack appears to have compromised the pole at all I'd suggest you have a professional replace it.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
