How to fix a water tank leak in top outlet?

Hi all,

I have two rain water tanks, both of them are leaking from top outlet. I am new to DIY things, apologies if my post is not clear.

Below pictures are from Water tank#1. It leaks exactly on the plastic pipe in the outlet joint exactly where I have pointed with my finger. Should I use some sort of paste to fix it or change complete outlet section?

The below pictures are from my water tank#2. This one leaks near the screw.

Hello @reddy9

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about fixing your water tank outlet.

I suggest changing both of the Rain Harvesting Flanged Tank Overflow - 90mm. This will save you from having to mess around with sealants and accidentally missing a spot and having the leak reappear. By putting in new flanges, you don't have to worry about a spot that you might have missed. I recommend using Parfix 300g Clear All Purpose Silicone or similar to join the PVC flange to the tank. My best advice is to not overtighten the screws when fixing it to the water tank.

As for the rest of the parts you'll need new 90mm PVC elbows, 90mm PVC pipe, 90mm PVC slip coupling and Protek 125ml Type N Blue Cement Solvent to glue the pipes together. My best advice is to do a dry fit first to make sure everything is in position before you apply glue to the joins.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Eric
