How to fix Hills folding clothesline not holding up on one side?

I bought this clothesline only last month. Has been working well until yesterday when one of the sides droops and doesn’t seem to lock in like the other side.  There has been no weight, impact or other damage done. It just stopped connecting.

Re: How to fix Hills folding clothesline not holding up on one side?

Hi @kymmccarthy11,

Welcome to Bunnings Workshop. It's great to have you as a member of the community.

Here are the steps from Hills:

  • Stand facing your clothesline - front on and centred
  • Gently raise your folding frame clothesline from the lowered position
  • There should be a clicking noise once your clothesline is horizontal
  • Your Hills folding frame clothesline is now locked in place.

Don’t raise your Hills folding frame clothesline any further. If you overdo it, the clothesline will unlock and not stay in place (horizontally).

Please let us know how you go. Our resident Bunnings D.I.Y. experts might have some other tips or be happy to organise a replacement item if it is faulty.

Thanks,

Jason

Hi @kymmccarthy11

Please let us know if the resetting of the arms re-aligns the frame. If you run into any other issues, please don't hesitate to post a question.

Hi my clothes line also has this issue. We installed it yesterday and when we tried using it with clothes for the first time, the right side frame is sagging.

I tried lowering it and clicking it back in place again but it didn’t help. When we hold each side the left side feels like it’s solid but the right side feels loose even though it’s locked in.

Re: How to fix Hills folding clothesline not holding up on one side?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @marilyn3. It's brilliant to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about your Hills clothesline.

On new units, it's most likely that the frame has been raised unevenly. It's important that you raise it evenly so both sides lock in at the same time. If the right side is raised and locks in before the left, then by the time the left locks in, the right has reached the point of unlocking. Try raising the frame evenly for me. After you've locked it in place several times, you won't have issues as you develop muscle memory.

9 times out of 10, the Hills customer service team can assist with these teething issues, and they've asked if you can reach out to them if you continue to have issues on Ph:1300 327 293

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell
