How to fiil gaps between timber balustrades and handrail?

What would be the best way to fill gaps up to 5 mm between the top of LOSP timber balustrades and the bottom of a timber handrail? I have included a pic

There are a couple of approaches you can take, depending on the finish you're aiming for and how much sanding you're willing to do.

If the installation is structurally sound and you're just looking to fill the gaps for a cleaner appearance, you can use a timber filler such as Earl's White MulTfill Ready To Use Filler. This product is designed for wood and works well for filling gaps in timber joinery. To apply it, simply use a putty knife to press the filler into the gaps, ensuring it's fully filled. Once applied, you'll need to allow it to dry according to the manufacturer’s instructions and then sand it down to a smooth finish that’s level with the surrounding wood. Sanding is an important step because, while the filler may initially look smooth, it can shrink slightly as it dries and may require additional sanding to blend seamlessly with the timber. Use fine-grit sandpaper (around 120-180 grit) to smooth the surface and ensure it’s flush with the surrounding wood and ready for painting.

Alternatively, if the gaps are relatively small (around 5mm or less), you could use a product like No More Gaps, which is a versatile gap filler designed for smaller spaces and general sealing. It’s easier to apply and doesn’t require sanding as you can use a dampened finger to smooth it, making it a quick solution. Both methods will work effectively. Just keep in mind that sanding is an essential part of getting a smooth and seamless finish when using timber filler.

Builders bog is what I would use, but it's not as user-friendly as a one-part timber filler @danil22, which should also work. If you have experience with Builder's Bog or want to give it a go, I'd encourage you to do so.
