Hi
I would like to use a simple cutting tool to cut the alfrsco timbre tiles in size for the steps. I know Bunnings has the manual and electric cutter for hire but but is there any tool that I can purchase at affordable price to cut my tiles for this tiny project?
Thanks!
Hi @AJ-DIYer,
Could you provide a little more information on these alfresco timber tiles? Are they actually timber? Do they have a plastic base plate?
Our tile cutters are used on ceramic tiles, so if timber is involved, they won't cut through them. Does the manufacturer of the tiles suggest a tool to cut them? If so, could you let me know, and I'll recommend a budget-friendly tool that would suit your project.
Mitchell
Thanks @MitchellMc
I have been advised a grinder would be useful. But I am not sure if I want to purchase one just for a small project and not used it anymore.
It is timbre looking tile but not made of timbre for alfrsco.
If these are just plain tiles with a timber look, then you can use a tile-cutting saw @AJ-DIYer. I'd recommend you consider hiring our Electric Tile Saw Table or the potentially the 600mm Hand Tile Cutter. The only other budget-friendly alternative to an angle grinder would be a DTA 300mm Handyman Tile Cutter, but being a cheaper unit, you might struggle if they are thicker tiles. If you had more than a dozen tiles to cut, hiring the electric tile saw table for 4hrs would be well worth it. The cheapest you'd be able to do the job with an Ozito 125mm 5" Angle Grinder Kit and Flexovit 125 x 22.2/20mm Continuous Rim Diamond Blade Tile Cutter would still be more than the cost of hiring the machine that will make short work of the job. It will also give you much more precise and clean cuts while being much safer, especially if you don't have experience using an angle grinder.
