Hi All , I am planning to build small pergola to the side of my alfresco. Just wondering "How to attach small pergola to metal fascia"
Bunning video talks about the wood fascia to attach walling plate but what about metal fascia. As i understand i need to screw the plate with the roof rafters. But question is to locate the roof rafters behind the metal fascia?
Hi mate,
Yeah that’s correct. I was limited by the gutter so I got them as close as possible but there was still about a 10mm gap between timber fascia and the gutter.
I think some flashing on top would be the way it’d do it next time to close the gap.
Hi Trent. Nice job with your pergola. Looks like you used brackets connected to your rafters. Which brackets did you use and were they difficult to bolt on to the rafters? Thanks.
Gday mate,
Thanks very much.
I was initially pretty intimidated by mounting the pergola up through the rafters but it’s actually pretty simple once you gain access to the roof. My roof was tiles so it took me some time (and nice weather) to take the tiles down.
I added an additional 1.2m 90 x 45 support running up the rafters. I then used the 22* brackets https://www.bunnings.com.au/dunnings-22-galvanised-extended-fascia-bracket_p1076113?store=6196&gclsr...
Once support was screwed in, bolted the bracket with m10s (120mm I believe) and fed it through a drilled gap in the fascia. Just had to add some silicone to the fascia where the bracket fed through as my drill holes weren’t perfect.
Finished product attached, hope it helps.
