Can I use the top rail of my existing colorbond fence as the top rail of the planned lattice 300mm height extension or do I need to retain it on the fence to provide stability of the extension please?
Hi @MichaelR2,
A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community and thank you for your question.
The outside legs on a lattice extension panel should be attached to the posts of your fence. This is so any forces applied to the fence extension are transferred down through the strongest part of the fence, which is the posts.
If there are legs in the middle of the panel, like this Lattice Makers 2400 x 500mm Fence Extension, then they can be drilled together through the fence panel or rail.
Is there any reason this wouldn't be possible?
If so, please let me know so I can assist further.
Jacob
