How do I completely close open side of patio?

20250116_142049.jpg

I have temporarily installed this blind, but it isn’t an ideal solution. I’d like to fully close off the open side to prevent birds and possums from entering my patio area. Could you recommend a solution? I’d like to maintain flexibility by incorporating access to the area in the form of a gate or door. Additionally, I’d prefer if any open gaps could be completely sealed.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @rahulrenga. We're pleased to have you join us.

Could we please trouble you for some photos without the blind? It is obviously obscuring the pergola and most of the area. It would be great to get a better view of what you are working with. Dimensions might also assist our community members.

Many thanks,

Jason

Re: How do I completely close open side of patio?

Hello @rahulrenga

Thanks for sharing your question about closing the open side of your patio. Generally speaking, it is possible to build a light timber frame between the post and your brick wall. However, before you begin, I suggest having a look at the rules and regulation of your local council specifically when closing off your patio with a permanent wall.

Depending on your budget and preference, I suggest looking at the cement sheet cladding for a basic cover. If you have enough money in your budget for insulation, then I would recommend installing some as well.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Eric
