I have a timber, paling gate 1.8 mtrs wide & 1.5 mtrs high to attach to a hebel wall. Frame timber is 90 x 45 treated with standard palings to be attached.
What fixings should I use?
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Hutch1. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about attaching a gate to Hebel blocks.
Although Hebel blocks can have light to medium-weight items attached to them, I wouldn't recommend attaching a gate that large to it. Even solid brick and concrete walls could have fixings ripped out of them by such a large gate. Hebel is a soft material and not suitable for hanging large weights.
Instead, I recommend you install posts concreted into the ground to support the weight of your gate. Once installed, you can connect your post to the wall for additional support. I've added a quick gate installation I did at my place to prevent my son from escaping.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
