Hi, I have a few wood pallets from local masonry that I want to reuse for garden beds and planters. However, those pallets don't have a treatment stamp. How can I tell if they're treated or not, and what are they treated with?
Thanks
Hi @adsnomore,
Thank you for your question and welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you join us.
Unfortunately, without a treatment stamp it would not be possible to confidently identify what the pallets have been treated with or if they have been treated at all.
With this in mind, you would be taking a gamble using them for garden beds and planters, especially if they were in ground.
You could extend their usable life by lining them with plastic and painting or coating them with oil, but there would be no guarantees that they would last.
You might like to have a read of Can I use untreated pallet wood for building outside garden boxes, where my colleague @MitchellMc has offered some great advice.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
