How can I make this outdoor balcony shade more protective from the sun? We live in a rented unit.
Good Evening @carmenalexis32
Now that is a hard question tho maybe I have a solution...
Buy some double sided velcro dots on the underside of each of the windows, Id probarly go with a two dots per window to make it less likely to fall down.
Then purchase some calaco from Spotlight in the width of your awning.
Attach the other side of the dot to the matching spot for the dots on the window. Needle and thread needed.
My thinking is a gently wave between the dots kind of looking like the wave you would draw as a child.
VELCRO Brand 22mm White Stick On Hook and Loop Dots - 40 Pack
I have used these dots at work for hanging posters and they have stood up to a few years use, on the underside of glass I am not sure but figure the more there are the less load each has to carry. Best part you can remove them when you move out.
I would also like to add a "Welcome to the Bunnings Community " There are so many ways of doing things around your place in these pages its not funny and if you are unsure, just ask and you will probarly get a few answers

Hi Dave thanks for your response, super helpful and thanks for the welcome!
Would you have an alternative suggestion that I could put to the landlord? They may be open to a permanent solution if I come to them with a reasonable solution.
Thanks again
Hi @carmenalexis32,
Thank you for your question and welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
Would something like this Automotive Tint Adhesive Window Film be something your landlord might be ok with?
It blocks up to 96% of UV rays, so it would certainly offer a good amount of sun protection while still allowing light through.
You might like to check out How To Install Window Film for some guidance.
Let me know what you think.

Morning @carmenalexis32
The support arms are the hard part to figure a way around for anything. I really like @JacobZ 's suggestion of the adheasive film. Much less chance of coming off.
Just noticed that the awning seems to be coreflute? If thats the case then maybe you could change it over to the sun protection coreflute instead?
