Hi Everyone,
Sharing my DYI project as part of the July competition.
I’d purchased recently an apartment where the courtyard had an exposed area which was very unsightly.
As per the pictures, I completed a DYI project, mounting some lightweight pool fencing (from Bunnings 😁) to act as fold up doors, then covering with artificial garden. Mounted to the rear of each fence panel was some lightweight composite plastic board, to help prevent moisture getting into the storage area.
Under the recess area to be used as storage, I’d removed 3-4 inches of soil then fitted some plastic base plates from Bunnings, they were super easy to install and fit together, providing a solid base for the storage area, rather than cementing-in or paving the whole 7m x 1.5m area. Drainage piping was also installed for excess water. Water piping for a garden watering system was also installed to feed water to a future garden area to the far end of the courtyard away from the tap.
I now have a great looking courtyard, with easy to access storage from my apartment, not having to go down to the complex basement when I need my toolbox or other regularly needed items.
What a difference artificial greenery makes !!!!!!! Love it @brendanlove 😊
Hi @brendanlove,
This is such a clever solution as a renter to make your courtyard a more inviting place! If you ever have more renter-friendly design and DIY tips the community would love to know about them. Great job!
