Hi
Just looking for guidance on what I'd need from Bunnings for some DIY aggregate bays similar to the photo?
I'm wanting the walls/dividers to be 1500mm high, 3m wide and 4m deep and 4 bays.
Thanks
Hi @Char1991,
Thank you for your question about building aggregate storage bays.
What you are planning to build is essentially a retaining wall using steel I-beams and what are likely railway sleepers. Unfortunately, these are not products that we keep in stock.
As they are tall structures that will be retaining soil, you will need to use suitably thick timber. You could use 200x75 Hardwood Sleepers as both your posts and the wall structure to create your bays.
You can use 2.4m long sleepers as your uprights. They should be concreted in with 900mm below ground and 1500mm above ground. You'll need to use 3 posts for each side of the bays and 2 posts for the back wall of the bays.
You can then bolt sleepers to these uprights to form the shape of your aggregate bays.
You can then duplicate this design for all 4 bays. I have made it so the insides of the bays are all lined with sleepers so no material can get stuck behind posts. You can reduce the number of sleepers used if you are happy to have some points where material can snag.
Let me know what you think and if you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Hi Jacob
Thank you for your response and drawings this is very helpful
Would the Ridgi range of products not be suitable for this?
Hi @Char1991,
Yes, the Ridgi system would be suitable for your project. We also have the Galintel 100 x 1200mm Galvanised Steel Heavy Duty Retaining Wall Post H-Section if you were looking for something more heavy-duty.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
