How to install concrete edging under a fence?

Hi

I'm looking at doing a concrete garden edge under my side fence. I am doing this as my yard slopes down to that side and there is currently significant run off building up along then fence. I am planning on levelling the yard sometime soon by building a versalock retaining wall along the fence line, but don't want grassy void in the small space between the fence and the wall.

The length of the garden edging would be 26000x300x200. Would this be sufficient in depth? I have selected 300mm as that will be the wall location to just past the other side of the fence.

I have looked at concrete and bags, and was wondering about what would be best. I am looking at premix, but I was wondering if there was a way to reduce the cost associated as cement along will be around 1.5k, and I plan to maybe do another 50m in the future.

Re: Concrete Edging

Hello @Conan

Thank you for sharing the details of your concrete edging. I would like to request for a line drawing on where the retaining wall will begin and where the concrete edging will be placed. You've mentioned a thickness of 200mm in concrete. Is there a reason you want it to be this thick? At 100mm thickness you can drive over the concrete with a car any thicker and you can put a heavy-duty vehicle on top. I would also like to know if you are putting rio bars into the concrete for support.

I suggest having a look at these discussions in regards to the calculation of cement and concrete:

These discussions will give you very good ideas regarding cement and premixed concrete.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Eric
