Re: Chimney waterproofing / repair
Hello @wayne19
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about a leak in your chimney.
Can you please tell us a little more about the source of the leak? Is there an obvious point where the leak is coming from? Is there more than one leak and is it spread out? Any extra information you can tell us about what's happening would be very much appreciated.
Now there are several products that you can use to waterproof the exterior of a concrete or brick surface. There is the Crommelin 1L Exterior Grade Brushable Waterproofer or the Gripset Betta 1L Waterproofing Membrane Bitumen Rubber. As for small cracks and joints, you can use Selleys 290ml Clear Storm Waterproof Gutter And Roof Sealant.
However, before you use any of these products, it's critical that you confer with a fireplace specialist to make sure that it is applicable to the surface of the chimney. It's possible that heat rated specialist products might need to be used for your chimney.
If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.
Eric
