Hi all, we have had these pvc window frames for almost ten years now but some of the silicone used to cover joins is starting to come away.
If anyone could give advice on the best weather resistant silicone sealant that would adhere to PVC plastic the best it would be much appreciated. These windows are exposed to a lot of sun and rain and sea spray, so hoping to find something for this and will last a long time!
thank you!
Hello @SusanEC10
I recommend using Selleys 310g Roof And Gutter Silicone Sealant - Translucent. It's a neutral cure silicone that is non-acidic and will not harm your PVC window frames. It can be used outdoors and has UV protection included. My best advice is to clean your window frames with soap and water and be sure to remove any remnants of the old silicone so that you get a good proper seal.
Here is a handy step-by-step guide: How to silicone seal a bath ( the methods used are applicable to your window project )
