Backyard Renos

IMG_1161.jpeg

Hi team, I am looking at putting some 2.4x1.2mtr veggies patches in my backyard. As you can see it is full of weeds at the moment, I was thinking of putting some pavers around each veggie garden to make it accessible and putting pebbles around the pavers to make it more aesthetic.

Please recommend the things to look out for and if there are any similar projects that have been done already. I am not too good with tools, so would like to keep it as simple as possible. Thanks

Re: Backyard Renos

Hi @kt04,

Thank you for your question about your backyard renovation project.

You might like to start by checking out the following articles -

A raised garden bed made from timber sleepers is an easy way of building your garden beds. The article on this topic will guide you through everything you need.

For your pavers, you'll want to follow the steps in How to Prepare for Paving to prepare the base, then you can use your choice of pavers over the top.

You might also like to add some garden edging to retain the area so that your stones don't go everywhere.

Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Re: Backyard Renos

Hi @kt04

@JacobZ   has given  you many good  choices.

To kill off the weeds already there cover the area in black plastic and the sun will kill the weeds and grass seeds it will take 4 weeks approx. So try this as step one.

I also prefer raised garden beds (you can buy them in a kit form.  many choices) for vegies as it makes life easy to work with and you can add top quality organicly added soil free of seeds to kick things off.
