Advice on fence colour for small backyard
Hello brains trust, I’m looking to paint the old fence of my townhouse’s small backyard and seeking some advice on colour. There are plenty of plants and the colour needs to complement the garden. Dark grey/blue seems very popular and I can see how it makes plants stand out - I’m just concerned it might look too dark in this small area? Has anyone painted dark (or light) in a small area, and happy to share photos? Thanks

Re: Advice on fence colour for small backyard
Good evening @Berry I can’t even focus on the fence, I’m too busy enjoying looking at your wonderful, beautiful garden !!!!!! I absolutely LOVE it 😍 I can’t answer the question about your fence sorry, I wonder if an earthy type of colour would blend in well like an olive green or a charcoal grey or something ? I know there are brilliant Community members that are very knowledgeable and talented with paint colours who could help you out.
Good luck and I can’t wait to see what happens 😊🌿

e: Advice on fence colour for small backyard
Hi @Berry,
Typically, the effect of making a space seem more confined by using darker colours is most prevalent indoors. With the ceiling above and dark walls, it can make a room feel smaller. Outside, I don't see this as so much of an issue and feel that a darker colour for the fence will work quite well. Here's a quick image manipulation of your yard.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Advice on fence colour for small backyard
Hi @Berry,
I'd recommend you take a look at two very popular colours for fences - Dulux Domino and Dulux Monument.
There's discussion in these previous conversations:
Hope that helps.

I’m leaning towards ironstone which looks a bit bluer, think I’ll need a test pot. Thanks for the links!
