iron burn on the carpet

Hi, my son has dropped the iron on his bedroom floor, and I'm wondering how I can fix this myself without it costing me a arm and leg. Please help.

Re: iron burn on the carpet

Hello @Bharti1991

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about repairing your carpet.

I suggest having a quick look at this discussion - How to repair burnt carpet? by @mush23.  If the burn on the carpet is shallow, you can try gently sanding the scorched area to remove the burnt fibers. Use fine-grit sandpaper and work carefully to avoid damaging the surrounding carpet.

Once you've sanded the area, you can try using a warm iron and a damp tea towel to further improve the appearance. Place the damp tea towel over the affected area and gently press with the iron for a few seconds at a time, making sure the iron is not too hot to avoid causing more damage. This method can help lift the fibers and improve the texture of the carpet. Always proceed cautiously and test on a small, inconspicuous area first to ensure it works well with your specific carpet.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Eric
