Hi Bunnings team and friends,
Would you please provide advice and guidance on how to repair this broken shelf platform wooden wardrobe?
is it something(s) I can buy at bunnings and fix myself?
Hello @steveo1
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about fixing your wardrobe shelf.
First step is to remove all the clothes inside the wardrobe area as you'll be making a bit of mess while repairing the shelf. I suggest getting a tape measure and measuring the length, top and sides of the broken timber piece. Proceed to the store and go the timber moulding area, there you'll find the timber piece that was used for your wardrobe shelf.
Once you are home, look carefully how the shelf was built. Odds are you'll find screw heads underneath the shelf and around the timber support. If you can remove the shelf to the left, you'll then be able to remove the broken piece and cut a new timber piece of the same length. Screw the new piece back on using the screws that were used for the old strip cover. Re-install the self on the left and paint the repair piece in the same colour as the shelf.
Now would be a good time add some 70mm x 35mm underneath the shelf to make sure that it will not give way again.
Let me call on our experienced members @Dave-1 and @Nailbag for their ecommendations.
