What non yellowing stain or wax to use on pine?

I have sanded these bedside tables down to raw wood (I think pine). I need to apply a stain or wax to finish them off/ protect them. I know that pine goes yellow with oil based products. I don’t want a glossy finish. Happy for a natural or slightly darker finish. What products could/ should I use?

Re: what non yellowing stain/ wax to use on pine.

Hello @lauravdh

I propose looking at Cabot's 500ml Satin Water Based Cabothane Clear Polyurethane Timber Varnish, it will not turn yellow as it is a water-based product. There is also the Cabot's 1L Walnut Water Based Stain And Varnish. This is also a water-based sealer and has a stain combined with it. I recommend testing the product under your table so that you get a good idea what kind of finish you'll be getting. If you are satisfied with the finish, you can then commit the entire table.

I also suggest visiting your local store and going to the paint department and looking at the clear sealers and stain and varnish sample boards in the paint department. It will give you a much better idea of what the finish will look like once applied to timber.

I also suggest having a quick look at this discussion - Bedside tables makeover by @inspiredbycoast.
