Hello!
I have had a look at the step-by-step guide on repairing cracked cornices but I had a few more questions.
I have purchased the supplies in the guide, including a hammer drill because the walls behind the plaster are brick. I have bought 3mm countersunk masonry screws.
What drill bit do I need to buy for this project?
Hi @EllieBee,
If it was the Ramset Black Countersunk Masonry Screws then they are sel-drilling and do not require pre-drilled holes. If you were struggling to drive them in, then you could potentially pre-drill them with a 3mm masonry bit.
If the cornice is easily pushed back in position, you might like to squirt some Liquid Nails up behind it and tape it back into position until the adhesive dries. Although this method isn't as secure as adding screws, given your masonry walls, it might be an easier solution.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
